What is T-Level Health?
T-Levels are innovative, two-year technical qualifications created in collaboration with employers to equip young people with the practical knowledge and skills needed in today’s industries.
Our Health T-Level specifically focuses on preparing students for a career in the health sector by combining classroom learning with hands-on experience.
This course offers an in-depth understanding of the key theories, principles and concepts that underpin the health industry. Students will also gain real-world experience through a 45-day industry placement, enabling them to confidently apply their knowledge in various professional settings and build the competencies required for success.
The T-Level Health course provides a solid curriculum to build your knowledge and skills for a career in the health sector. You’ll study a variety of core topics in the first year, concentrating on key concepts and practices essential for working in health and clinical environments.
In the second year, you’ll specialise in an occupational area, gaining in-depth understanding and hands-on experience designed for your chosen pathway.
Core topics in the first year include:
- Understanding the health sector
- Scientific and clinical practices
- Providing person-centred care
- Health, safety and infection control
- Managing personal information
In the second year of the Health T-Level, you specialise in one of two pathways, each designed to equip you with focused expertise and practical skills in your chosen area.
Pathway 1 (Supporting the Adult Nursing Team)
- Assist the adult nursing team with clinical tasks
- Support individuals with activities of daily living
Pathway 2 (Supporting the Therapy Teams – Allied Health Professionals)
- Assist with therapy and clinical support processes
- Provide advice to help individuals improve or maintain their health and skills for daily living
- Carry out therapeutic techniques to support allied health professionals
Completing the Health T-Level opens up all kinds of exciting progression opportunities, whether you want to continue your education, enter the workforce or pursue an apprenticeship.
Higher Education
Many students use their T-Level qualification to progress to university and pursue careers such as:
- Adult nursing
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational therapy
- Healthcare support roles
Higher-Level Apprenticeships
This qualification also provides a pathway to advanced apprenticeships, including:
- Healthcare Assistant Practitioner
- Nursing Associate
- Health Play Specialist
Direct Employment
Alternatively, the Health T-Level equips you with the skills and qualifications needed to step straight into roles such as:
- Ambulance support worker
- Healthcare support worker
The exam board for the Health T-Level is NCFE, a nationally recognised awarding organisation.
To enrol onto the T-Level Health course, you’ll need at least two GCSEs at grade 5 and three GCSEs at grade 4, including:
- English Language (grade 5 or above)
- Maths (grade 5 or above)
- Science (grade 5 or above)
