Application Journey

Over the forthcoming academic year, we will keep in touch with you in order to help you with your transition to Cardinal Newman College. Here is your entry guide to Cardinal Newman College.

Step 1: Do Your Research

September

You can pick up a copy of the College prospectus from school, download it directly from the College website, and find out more about the courses we offer on the website.  You’ll also be able to see us in school at year group assemblies, parent evenings, careers events and drop ins where the schools’ liaison team will be available to answer your questions.

Step 2: Come and Visit Us

October – February

Open Events at Newman start in October, so make sure you visit us! It’s a great way to find out what Newman has to offer, meet our teaching and support staff, and our students help throughout the event so ask them about College too!

Step 3: Apply Online

October – February

Applications to Cardinal Newman open in October. Simply go to the ‘Apply’ tab on the college website, read through the instructions and submit your application. Once your application has been submitted we will be in touch with you about the next steps in the application process, but feel free to contact the Admissions Team if you have any questions or wish to change your courses before you enrol in August. The initial application deadline is February 10th  so make sure yours is in on time!

We still accept applications after this date, however, try to get yours in by the 10th of February so you don’t miss out on any crucial information from us and so you can focus on your GCSE exam revision with the knowledge your place at College is safe.

Step 4: Accept Your Place

Applicants who have applied early will receive an early conditional offer of a place at Newman. For applicants who apply after our November Open day your conditional offer of a place will be sent before Christmas and then once again to everyone who applies between Christmas and our initial applicant deadline of 10th February. Once the College deadline of 10th February has passed, you will then receive a conditional offer email within 2 weeks of applying to Newman.
You need to log into the ‘Newman Portal’ (details of how to do this will be in your offer email) and accept your place at Cardinal Newman! N.B. You can accept your place at multiple Colleges.

Step 5: NewmanFest

Once you have accepted your place at Cardinal Newman, you will be invited to NewmanFest, which takes place on the 30th June 2025 after GCSE exams.

This is a great opportunity for you to come and spend the day at the College and try out your subjects before you enrol with us in August. You will be given the opportunity to try out three subjects which is especially helpful if there are any subjects that you are undecided about. You will also get the chance to meet the teachers, find out more details about the subjects and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

You can also meet some of your soon-to-be classmates and begin making friends, as well as enjoy campus life, trying some of our delicious food and exploring the College grounds.

Step 6: Enrol at Newman

If you have accepted your place at Cardinal Newman, you will receive an email during July to book an enrolment appointment, for an online enrolment appointment which takes place on GCSE results day and the following day.  If you will be away during enrolment and cannot attend an online appointment, don't worry, we will find an alternative date but you must contact the College to arrange an alternative date when the invite to book is sent via email.

When you enrol at College, you will need to have your GCSE results and upload these to the Newman Portal, as these will be checked during a one-to-one interview with a member of the College staff. This will also be an opportunity to discuss your results, any course changes you would like to make and any other questions you may have about starting at Newman.

What if I am disappointed with my GCSE results? Don’t panic! If you haven’t quite received the results you were hoping for, you should still attend your Newman enrolment appointment, where you will be able to speak to one of our friendly tutors about your options.

Step 7: Start at Newman

September

September is here and the time has finally arrived for you to start at Newman! Don’t be nervous – everyone is really friendly and we will try our best to make you feel at home.
You will recieve confirmation that your timetable is ready to view a few days before you start with us.
