Trips for German A-Level

German A-Level students are offered exciting trips to enhance their language skills and cultural understanding. In Year 12, students can participate in the annual Germany Exchange Programme. This is where they visit Freiburg in South-West Germany, staying with German students before hosting their exchange partners in the UK.

In Year 13, there’s a chance to visit Berlin, where students engage with native speakers and learn about life in Germany, particularly since the fall of the Berlin wall. These trips provide invaluable real-world language practice. 

What is the Exam Board for A-Level German?

The A-Level German course at Cardinal Newman is assessed by the Eduqas (WJEC) exam board. They’re known for their thorough assessment methods, making sure students are well-prepared for both their exams and further language study.

The qualification is widely recognised by universities and employers too. 

What are the Entry Requirements for A-Level German?

To enrol on the German A-Level programme, you’ll need at least five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including a grade 6 in German.

There is also the option to study a Mixed Programme. This option combines A-Levels with BTEC qualifications and is appealing to students who aren’t predicted to achieve all five grade 5s.
