Here at Newman every year we offer three opportunities for prospective students and their families to come and look around our beautiful campus and find out more about what the College has to offer.
But why is it so important to visit a College Open Day? Here in the North West, students are extremely lucky to have lots of options available to them for their post-16 studies, but what is most important is which option is right for them. Each College offers a unique environment, suite of subjects, enrichment opportunities and more, so it is important that students choose the place that is the best fit for them.
Cardinal Newman College Open Day gives prospective students the chance to visit the campus with either their parents, grandparents, carers, friends or even by themselves. They will have the opportunity to hear talks from key members of the College community, such as the Principal, Deputy and Vice Principals. Our Principal Nick Burnham delivers several talks, giving an insight into why you should choose Cardinal Newman, our results, our provision and much more. It is also possible to hear from our Vice Principal Vicky Bryant about our HE* Programme, which is a fantastic programme designed for high achieving students.
A Cardinal Newman College Open Day also provides the chance to wander around the campus, visiting course areas and talking to our subject specialists to find out if a particular course might be right for them. Not to mention the unique opportunity to talk to current students about their experiences of college-life and find out what advice they would give.
There are also the more practical aspects of college-life that prospective students can find out about, such as how to get to College, the variety of bus passes and bursaries available, what the facilities are like, as well as what support is available for our students.
On a Cardinal Newman College Open Day, students can also find some of our catering outlets open, offering the chance to try some of the delicious food on offer as well as enjoy our onsite Starbucks and Costa, whilst mulling over everything that they have seen and heard during their visit.
