Studied: A-Levels in Computer Science, Maths and Philosophy, alongside an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
Throughout college, Lizzy combined analytical and technical subjects with opportunities to develop her wider skills and interests. Studying Computer Science, Maths and Philosophy provided a strong foundation in problem-solving, logical thinking and critical analysis, while completing an EPQ allowed her to explore an area of personal interest in greater depth and develop valuable independent research skills.
While achieving strong academic results was important, she feels that some of the most valuable aspects of college life took place beyond the classroom. Through a range of enrichment opportunities, she gained confidence, developed professional skills and built connections that helped shape her future career aspirations.
One of the highlights of Lizzy's time at college was participating in StratCom, which gave her the opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals. Through these experiences, she gained a greater understanding of the technology sector and the diverse careers available within it, particularly in cyber security.
He is now looking forward to studying Computer Science at the University of Leeds, where he hopes to further develop his technical expertise and work towards a career in cyber security, potentially specialising in threat analysis.
“The social aspects of college life have been amazing, and I’ve learnt so much more than just what was taught in the classroom. Opportunities like StratCom were a real highlight because they allowed me to meet professionals, expand my network and learn more about the industry. Those experiences have inspired me to pursue a career in cyber security, and I’d love to work in threat analysis one day, perhaps for the MOD. I’m excited to continue my studies at the University of Leeds and see where the next stage of my journey takes me.”
