Record Number of A* Grades at Cardinal Newman
It has been a day of celebrations at Cardinal Newman as our students’ results were announced, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they have all achieved. We are celebrating a record number of A* grades!
The results have been outstanding across the board, with the record number of A* grades and an amazing 66% of students achieving high grades A*-B, not to mention 100% pass rate in both A-Level and BTEC. Of all the grades awarded, 1 in 3 were a grade A or higher and 2 in 3 B or higher, meaning that over two thirds of our students have achieved the highest grades.
Some particular subject highlights from this year’s results include 80% of our A-Level Psychology students achieving A*-B. Over in the Maths department there have been some impressive numbers, with 44% of A-Level Maths students achieving A*-A and a whopping 1/3 of Further Maths students achieving an A*!
In reality, what this means is that if you choose Cardinal Newman for your post 16 education, you will be studying at the only Ofsted Outstanding Sixth Form College in Central Lancashire, and your chances of success are fantastic. It’s important to us that our students feel happy, supported and are enjoying their studies. If they are happy and enjoying their work, they will achieve much better grades as a result.
It is this approach that the College lives by, with a whole range of additional opportunities available to our students. This includes a fantastic pastoral programme, delivered by our Achievement Tutors, the HE* Programme, designed to stretch and challenge our most able students and help them achieve their aspirations. We also offer of an extensive enrichment programme including trips and visits both in the UK and abroad, which allows our students to enhance their classroom experiences with engaging activities whilst seeing the world. We also have a fantastic range of support systems in place, from our counselling team to the Equality and Diversity team and Health and Wellbeing team, all of whom are in place to ensure students have the skills they need to look after their well-being.
