The College has been celebrating more sporting success, this time at the Association of Colleges (AoC) Badminton Tournament.
Each College is invited to enter a team of their best players, and in order to do this, we held our own internal tournament, with the top four boys and girls qualifying to represent the College.
The AoC Tournament took place on November 21st at Manchester College, and after competing in the initial group stages, the winners then progressed onto the semi-finals. Sisters Senadi and Dinadi Malliyawadu both qualified for the semi-finals, each winning their match to make it through to the finals, which saw them face off against each other, to decide who would win the tournament. It was a hard-fought battle, which ultimately saw Dinadi crowned as the winner.
There was also success for the boys, with Newman’s Andrew Hardaker taking the top spot in the boys’ competition. After their success, all three have now qualified to represent the North West as part of the team that will travel to the national finals, which are being held at the University of Nottingham in April.
What a fantastic achievement! Well done to all involved, we look forward to cheering you on in the National Finals.
