Facilities
st Cecilia'sst Cecilia's

Cardinal Newman College is situated in the heart of Preston City Centre. It is set on an unique and compact camps within a five minute walk of the bus station and a 10 minute walk from the railway station.

In the past two years the College has embarked on an extensive redevelopment programme which has seen our students benefit from state of the art new facilities. This programme is still continuing.

St Augustines Sport Centre

This major new sports complex opened in the summer of 2005 and has become an integral part of life in the College. The showpiece facility is set across four levels with a sports hall, dance studio, table-tennis facilities (which is home to the North West centre of excellence) and a 40 piece fitness suite (which is open the students as well as the local community), IT facilities and classrooms. We also have extensive playing fields across the river from Avenham Park. College teams arrange other local specialist sports facilities as and when they need them.

St James Art & Design Centre

Art & Design courses are taught in the listed St James' Art centre, which was opened in 2002. The building stands alone within the College grounds and offers Art students a unique and creative atmosphere in which to work. The internal areas are light, spacious and flexible in their use. The existing building is linked to the new extension by the introduction of a common foyer. Adjacent to the site is the old Coach House, which has also been renovated to provide further Art facilities.

St Mary Science & Maths Centre

Our Science and Maths subjects are all taught within the purpose built St Mary's building, which is located opposite the main site. The building was originally opened in 1986 but was extended and refurbished in 2008. As well as housing state of the art laboratories and a large Open Learning Centre, St Mary's now has brand new facilities for History, Health & Social Care, Children's Care Learning & Development and Essential Skills.

St Cecillia Building

Our new £11 million St Cecilia building opened in March 2009 and has been a fabulous addition to the College facilities. The five storey building houses our new Music Academy, our Language courses (including laboratories and IT suites), English, Media, Film, Communication & Culture courses as well as our RE department. Along with classrooms and facilities for these subjects, there is also a state of the art TV studio, fully equipped photography studios, Music practice rooms, recording suites and performance studio.

Main Building

The main College buildings are centred on a Georgian Mansion within stunning grounds which include a lake and wooded areas. There are separate blocks for Maths and Science subjects, as well as Art and Sport. Both are adjacent to the main college site and house impressive new facilities. The newly developed grounds include picnic areas and a waterfall. Food is also available on the main site from either the Student Lounge; which serves sandwiches and other snacks; and the main canteen which serves hot food, salad and hosts BBQs in the summer.
