Newman offers fabulous opportunities for students with a talent for sport to continue their athletic development alongside their academic studies.

Joining a sporting Centre of Excellence or Academy ensures that alongside your academic studies, you will have five hours of specialist sports coaching scheduled into your timetable. This time will include: training, coaching, theory, refereeing/umpiring practice and competitive matches. It is possible to take four Advanced Level subjects (or their equivalent) alongside your chosen sporting academy.

We currently run Academies and a Centre of Excellence in:

* Netball

* Basketball

Entrance to the Football Centre of Excellence, Netball Academy and Basketball Academy is by trial only - please make sure that you tick the relevant box on the application form if you wish to have trial for an academy team.

Our Academy and Centre of Excellence sides have been highly successful for many years, we regularly have players representing their country, are regional and national champions and players who go on to sign professional contracts.
